Project Description
Forest Lawn Mortuary implemented an automated new system to integrate
the back office functions of the mortuary’s five regional
offices. This new system integrated the following back office functional
tasks:
- Cashiering
- Records
- Deeds
- Credit
- Claims
- Contract processing
- Account Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Collections
- Property management and property reservations
The system was a client-server application developed in PowerBuilder™,
with a SQL Server database.

IDA’s
Role: To provide expertise in re-engineering the mortuary's business
processes.
IDA's Business Analyst reviewed the manual procedures in place
for each of the functional areas, then developed a strategy for
redesigning those processes to meet the mortuary’s business
needs using the new system.
