Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks

Project Description

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MFWP) implemented an online recreational and commercial hunting and fishing license system to replace their manual entry process. This system was deployed to over 1,200 retail agents and MFWP staff throughout the state of Montana.

The system was implemented on a small footprint, counter top point of sale device using the Windows 98 operating system.

IDA’s Role: IDA was contracted to develop the training and user documentation for the front end (licensing sales) and backend (administration) of the system.

Materials were developed for the following five modules:

  • Administration
  • Operations
  • Analysis
  • Fulfillment
  • Processing

IDA’s responsibilities for rollout included:

  • Scheduling of over 1,200 sales agents and internal MFWP staff for a full day of instructor-led training
  • Setting up nine training sites throughout the state. Each training site consisted of a LAN with 16 workstations.
  • Providing two instructors for the 8-week training cycle
  • Training the Help Desk staff on the new system
